Pagbabago! on Proclamation 1959: Arroyo's scheme to stay in power and escape acoountability in the Ampatuan Massacre

Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change is in solidarity with the people in opposing Proclamation No. 1959 that placed Maguindanao under Martial Law. Pagbabago is also calling on members of Congress to cross party lines and revoke Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s martial law in Maguindanao .

We urge our legislators not to legitimize a patently unconstitutional move that by all indications is part of a grand scheme by the Arroyo administration to perpetuate itself in power as well as to cover-up its accountability in the Ampatuan massacre.

Statement of Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change
on Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s 9th State of the Nation Address
July 27, 2009

Ordinary Filipinos and the nation as a whole will find it extremely difficult to accept, much less appreciate, the achievements to be shamelessly claimed by Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in her State of the Nation Address (SONA). Simply put, ordinary Filipinos - 70% of whom are anti-GMA - will find her SONA a lot of hogwash.

Why? Because the last eight years under Mrs. Arroyo is the complete opposite of the change aspired for by our people.

Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change Founding Assembly
26 May 2009, Makati City

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change, I would like to warmly greet all of you here today - founding and future members, esteemed guests and friends - all of you who yearn for real and meaningful change in our country: Salamat sa inyong pagdalo!
